Born in Montreal and raised in Clarkson, the Clearview and East Lake neighbourhoods in Oakville have been home to Dave, his wife Susan, and their family for more than 35 years. Susan is a retired Vice-Principal with the Peel District School Board, and their now adult children, Lesley, Elizabeth, and Matthew, attended Chisholm and E.J. James Public Schools, and Oakville Trafalgar High School.

Prior to serving on the Oakville Town Council, Dave’s career was in the media. As Chair and Director of the Retail Advertising and Marketing Club of Canada, he worked closely with industry leaders to address industry concerns and to provide educational forums with a unique Canadian perspective. As Chair and Director of the StarNews Credit Union, Dave's focus was on fiscal guardianship.
